Outreach
South County Church of Christ is a small congregation that prays to make a big impact in local and global ways.
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit – Matthew 28:19
SCCOC has the privilege of supporting local families over the holidays. Through Family Assistance Ministries we adopt multiple families providing a complete holiday meals as well as gifts. Each family is different, having their own set of circumstances and it is such a blessing for us to deliver these goodies and participate in such a positive way right here in San Clemente.
A new ministry for SCCOC, we have seen a need to send our love along with some items that encourage our college students and military abroad each quarter.
For over 20 years we have had the joy of gathering together in December to put together some holiday cheer and deliver boxes filled with teas, cookies, socks, small gifts and much more. What began an outreach to shut-ins has become an effort to reach out to family and friends of our congregation who may need cheer or have experienced loss.
South County supports the San Clemente Hunger Walk to be assist with homelessness and hunger.

SCCOC is blessed to support this organization that immediately responds to major disasters in the continental US, such as the California wildfires, by sending truckloads of emergency food, water, cleaning, supplies, and other goods.
In addition to providing gifts for local children during the holiday season, South County is especially proud to help in this ministry. In partnership with Samaritan’s Purse, we collect and fill boxes to send around the world… Over the years, this ministry has grown with many of the children growing up not only a present, but also knowing that others are interested in their physical and spiritual well-being.

It began in 1970 as a labor of love led by Earl Farmer and concerned Christian people in California – today, the Cityof Children continues to be a successful mission model of Churches of Christ across America. The purpose is to teach the gospel of our Lord to the orphaned and needy children of Mexico. Since the beginning, 620 children and adults have become Christians, with an additional 800 new Christians reached through Baja Missions. Baja Missions was established in 1996 as an outgrowth of the lifesaving ministry at the City of Children. The work continues to flourish as the gospel is taught in Baja. The City of Children has been near and dear to many members at the South County Church of Christ. We have volunteered in the past and for 20+ years continue to financially contribute to this wonderful work being accomplished in Mexico.

Summer 2019-In partnership with Zumasys, a business headquartered in San Clemente, our Teen/Young adult class took a day trip to Tajuana Mexico to volunteer playing with the children as well as cooking and serving lunch for the children, staff and volunteers that replaced a roof for the orphanage. The experience of seeing the family that has been created for orphaned children loved and taught the gospel of Jesus Christ was inspiring. We hope to continue our new relationship with Martin and his wonderful group.
For over 2 years one of our guest preachers, Terry Harrison, and his family have served with Singapore Calling. This mission provides the opportunity for education to students who travel from areas throughout Asia to become teachers of the bible. They will then return to their communities teaching and thus, growing God’s Kingdom. It has been a pleasure to support the efforts of Terry serving as the Dean of the Institute.
SCCOC is a proud supporter of the World Christian Broadcasting they exist so that people in places best served by broadcast media become aware of the good news of Jesus Christ and want to know more. Geographic areas that cannot be easily served by missionaries are a priority.
